Film Magazine Planning Ideas

Masthead:
-Preview
-Reel
The masthead of the magazine will be at the top of the cover, and it will be in bold font so that the title stands out from all the other text on the cover. These masthead ideas are not certain yet and the title may change. The colour of the masthead should match the overall theme of the movie. Also, the main image should overlap the masthead to create a 3D effect, this is quite common for magazine covers.
Main Image:
The main image will most likely be just the main character of our movie trailer. As the plot/storyline focuses mainly on the one character, thus, it wouldn't make sense to have the side characters on the cover of the magazine. The shot will either be a close-up or a mid-shot as it is important to see the expression on the characters face. The character may be facing sideways and holding a prop to make it look like its a scene from the movie, this is common for film magazines.
Colour Scheme:
The main colour of the magazine will be grey, as it is probably going to be the main colour of the movie trailer. Grey matches the theme of Urban Dramas and it was suggested in the audience market research we conducted. Other colours that could complement grey are yellow, orange, black, white. The headline and sub-headline may match the colour of the masthead or a shade lighter to contrast with the masthead.
Headline/sub-headline:
Film magazines tend to use the title of the featuring film as the headline of the magazine. However, the sub-headline follows the headline and it usually is related to the featuring movie, something to do with the storyline or character of the movie. The text will be medium sized (smaller than the headline but bigger than the sell lines), and the colour of the text will match the headline.
Sell-lines:
The sell lines will include the titles of other movies that will be featured inside of the magazine. They may also mention names of actors or directors, perhaps interviews that will be included in the issue. The sell lines should inform the reader/audience of what they should expect to see inside of the magazine. It will attract fans of the movies, actors and directors mentioned on the cover of the magazine.
Other:
I would like to include a button on my film magazine cover, the button will include a sell-line. The cover must also include a bar code, date, issue number and price of the magazine, this is just general information that must be included on a magazine cover. These will either be placed at the top or at the bottom of the cover so that it doesnt get in the way of the masthead, main image and headline.
